Vehicle collides with Auburn residence, narrowly avoiding woman watering yard

A vehicle crashed into a residence in Auburn on Thursday evening, narrowly missing a woman who was outside, and authorities reveal that the driver was operating without a license. Auburn police received a report of the incident on Jefferson Street around 8:15 p.m., with indications that the driver had fled towards Minot Avenue. Video footage from a neighboring home captured the car rolling backwards down the street, nearly hitting a woman watering her lawn before crashing into the residence at 49 Jefferson St. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the occupants of the home, though the property sustained significant damage but remains habitable. A police K-9 named Brick assisted in locating the driver, identified as Jordina Nissi, aged 29, from Auburn, on Fairview Avenue, approximately half a mile away. Nissi faces charges including aggravated criminal mischief, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving without a license, and reckless driving. Following a medical evaluation at Central Maine Medical Center, Nissi was taken into custody at Androscoggin County Jail with a bail set at $250, with the condition that she refrains from driving until she obtains a valid license.
