MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4) — The Unified Police Department identified the teen driver who died in a car crash on Saturday afternoon as 16-year-old Elijah Exodus Bustamante Martinez. Martinez, who was a student at Hillcrest High School, was driving west on Fort Union Boulevard with another passenger when they crashed into a parked semi-truck. Unified Police Department said it appears that Martinez had swerved to miss another vehicle and lost control on the wet roads. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, identified as Donny Gabriel Castro Hernandez, 19, suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local area hospital. In an update provided on Monday, March 24, Unified Police officials said Hernandez is still in critical but stable condition. "The Unified Police Department extends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased during this time," the police department said in a statement.
