US GP Sprint: Norris, Piastri crash as Verstappen wins
Max Verstappen continued his strong late-season performance by winning the Sprint at the United States Grand Prix, after McLaren team-mates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris collided at the first corner. Verstappen comfortably led from pole at the Circuit of the Americas, while Piastri and Norris tangled as they battled for position. The incident forced both McLarens out of the race, along with Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin. Verstappen successfully fended off a challenge from George Russell of Mercedes to secure his third consecutive Sprint victory in Austin. This result narrowed the gap between Verstappen and Piastri in the championship standings. The race ended under Safety Car conditions due to another collision on the first corner involving Lance Stroll and Esteban Ocon. Several teams faced significant repairs ahead of the full United States Grand Prix qualifying session. Despite the setbacks, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella remained determined to focus on repairing their cars for the upcoming race.
