Update: Woman identified in Maroa car crash
Update at 3:37 p.m. - Last Thursday afternoon in Maroa, Illinois, a tragic crash left a 69-year-old woman dead. The Macon County Coroner, Michael D. Burkham, identified the deceased woman as Mary Alice Cunningham from Forsyth. The incident is currently under investigation. The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the woman's vehicle was hit by a northbound semi while turning onto southbound Route 51 from South Wood Street. The Macon County Sheriff's Office was called to assist the Maroa Police Department and Illinois State Police at the scene. The woman was pronounced dead on-site. The Macon County Coroner's Office is in the process of informing her family before releasing her name to the public. The Illinois State Police's Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit has been called in to aid in the investigation. WCIA has attempted to contact the Maroa Police for further details but has not received a response yet.
