UPDATE: WB I-74 reopens after deadly semi-truck collision in Piatt County

PIATT COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- One person is dead after a semi-truck collided head-on with another vehicle on I-74 Monday night. The accident happened around 11:53 p.m. on I-74 westbound at milepost 167, just north of Mansfield in Piatt County. State Police said a semi-truck crossed the median and struck a passenger vehicle head-on. One person in that vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. As of around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, State Police said they were diverting traffic onto Illinois Route 47 at exit 172, and re-routing traffic through U.S. Route 150. The semi-truck involved in the crash was towed away just before 8 a.m. and the westbound lanes were reopened around the same time. State Police, the Piatt County Sheriff's Department and Piatt County Coroner are continuing to investigate. Coroner Troy Dunn said that no other information is being released by his office at this time. A WCIA reporter is on the scene. This is a developing story. We will share updates as we learn more.
