Update: All lanes on Interstate 4 near ChampionsGate have been reopened as of 8:30 p.m.Overview Interstate 4 was shut down in both directions in Osceola County near ChampionsGate following a collision involving a semi-truck carrying fertilizer that crashed into a guard rail, leading to a fire. The incident occurred on Monday morning on the westbound lanes near mile marker 59. Traffic on both sides of the interstate was redirected, with westbound vehicles diverted off at exit 62 towards World Drive. To return to westbound I-4, motorists were advised to travel west on U.S. 192 and then south on U.S. 27. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the incident involved a 2017 Ford Focus and a semi-truck. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries, and both lanes were expected to remain closed for an extended period. The cause of the crash is being investigated, and the extent of damage to the roadway is uncertain. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will assess the road post FHP's investigation to ensure safety.
