UPDATE: Driver identified in fatal car crash into QCA home

UPDATE: A news release from the Clinton County Sheriff's Office identifies the driver in the crash as Trisha Lynn Brookins, 46 of Dubuque. The incident is still under investigation. EARLIER: A driver died after a vehicle crashed into a DeWitt home. According to a release, deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 2700 block of 190th St. on April 15, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m. for a reported motor vehicle crash into a residence. The vehicle caught fire from the accident, and it spread throughout the house. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not able to exit the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the incident. The identity of the victim is currently being withheld. The case is under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office and the Clinton County Medical Examiner's Office.
