Two teens die in early morning New Bedford crash

Two teenagers tragically lost their lives in a car crash that occurred in New Bedford, Massachusetts early Saturday morning. The incident took place before 2 a.m. near the 2.1 mile marker on Route 140 South. Authorities were alerted to the scene by a 911 call. Upon arrival, police discovered a heavily damaged 2019 Honda Civic in a wooded area to the right of the road. The crash had caused two individuals to be ejected from the vehicle. A 17-year-old boy from West Yarmouth was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 15-year-old girl, also involved in the crash, suffered critical injuries and later passed away at a nearby hospital. An 18-year-old Dartmouth boy sustained non-life threatening injuries and was hospitalized. Further details regarding the driver's injuries were not disclosed by Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol District Attorney's office. New Bedford is a city located in southeastern Massachusetts, with a population of around 100,000 residents, situated approximately 55 miles south of Boston and 35 miles from the Rhode Island border.
