Two state police officers hit on I-91 North in Enfield

Two Connecticut State Police troopers were injured in Enfield while responding to a crash on Interstate 91 North Thursday morning. State police reported that the troopers were struck while on duty investigating a multi-vehicle crash near Exit 48 at around 7 a.m. Both were injured, with one trooper being hit while outside their cruiser and the other inside, near Exit 47W. Several individuals were hurt in the incident and have been transported to a hospital for medical attention, although details on their injuries are not currently known. WWLP, a Nexstar station, observed a state police cruiser and around six other vehicles damaged at the scene. Due to the crash, the interstate has been closed between Exits 47W and 48, with the eastbound onramp at Exit 47 also shut down. Traffic congestion stretches back at least two miles, prompting the CT DOT to reroute vehicles off the highway at Route 190. Enfield police have mentioned that the state police are handling the investigation. Updates are ongoing, so please continue to follow News 8 for the latest information.
