
Two siblings die in car crash on I-95 in Philadelphia; Police suspect racing.
A tragic incident occurred on Friday night in Philadelphia on I-95 resulting in a fatality as a car lost control during a race, veered off an elevated part of the highway, and plunged to the street below. The accident claimed the lives of two brothers from New Jersey who were passengers in a 2006 Mazda involved in the race. Two other brothers, also from New Jersey, who were in the Mazda sustained injuries. Reports indicate that the Mazda was racing a Dodge Challenger on the interstate before the driver of the Mazda lost control. State police are investigating the incident, which resulted in the Mazda crashing onto Castor Avenue near Richmond Street. The aftermath of the crash, captured in video footage, showed the Mazda badly damaged with debris strewn around it. Tragically, two passengers in the rear of the car, aged 18 and 22, were thrown from the vehicle and did not survive as they were not wearing seatbelts. The driver and front seat passenger, both in critical condition, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Additionally, a puppy in the back of the car was ejected and found deceased at the crash site. Authorities including the Pennsylvania State Police and Philadelphia Police responded to the incident, with the State Police leading the investigation due to the incident occurring on I-95. Philadelphia Police are providing support as needed during the investigation.
