Two people killed in small aircraft accident in Erie, Colorado named

Two individuals who lost their lives in a recent small plane accident near the Erie Municipal Airport in Colorado have been named. The Weld County Coroner's Office has identified them as Niles Tilenius and William Johnston. Tilenius, aged 22, hailed from San Mateo County, California, while Johnston, aged 21, was from Hillsborough County, Florida. Tilenius was reported to be the pilot of the plane during the incident, with Johnston as his student. Tilenius was employed as a flight instructor at Odyssey Pilot Hours in Erie and had exciting career prospects ahead, including acceptance into the United Airlines' Aviate program and a new role as a pilot at GoJet Airlines starting on Nov. 18. The tragic crash occurred at 3:32 p.m. on Oct. 19 with the two occupants on board. Both the FAA and NTSB are conducting investigations into the accident. The town of Erie is situated approximately 25 miles northwest of Denver and 13 miles east of Boulder.
