Two people killed in single-engine plane crash in Simi Valley neighborhood
Two individuals perished in a tragic incident on Saturday where a small, single-engine airplane crashed in a residential backyard in Simi Valley, California. Both occupants and a dog aboard the plane lost their lives in the crash, which occurred around 2 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported on the ground, though the impact caused significant destruction to the aircraft and surrounding properties. The Ventura County Fire Department responded to the scene to address fires that broke out as a result of the crash, damaging two adjacent homes. The FAA identified the aircraft as a Van's RV-10, initially suggesting only the pilot was on board. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the crash, and the NTSB is spearheading the inquiry. Residents in the affected homes were evacuated and told their residences are temporarily uninhabitable until repairs are completed.
