Two medical helicopters land after two crashes on I-85 south near state line, officials say

Two helicopters have landed at the scene of two crashes on Interstate 85 Tuesday morning, hours after another crash occurred just a few miles away.According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, one of the crashes happened on I-85 South near mile marker 5 before the Old Dobbins Bridge Road Exit.SCDOT reports that traffic is backed up roughly eight miles in the southbound lanes. All southbound lanes are blocked. The left northbound lane is closed.The Anderson County Coroner's Office reported that the mile marker 5 crash involves two vehicles and multiple people were injured.According to WYFF News 4 Photographer Kevin Moran, two medical helicopters have landed at the scene of the crash.Keep up with what's happening around our area by downloading the WYFF News 4 app on the App Store or Google Play.At 10:17 a.m., the Townville Volunteer Fire Department reported another crash in the southbound lanes near mile marker 6.The coroner's office there were injuries in the mile marker 6 crash.The coroner's office has not been called to either crash. Details of either collision have not been released.These crashes come after a crash involving an 18-wheeler closed all northbound lanes at mile marker 8 earlier this morning.
