
Two killed in McAllen crash; intoxication suspected
McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The McAllen Police Department is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash. According to a news release from McAllen PD, at approximately 2:29 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, authorities responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of North 2nd Street, Col. Rowe Boulevard, and Nolana Avenue. Officers reported that the collision involved a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a Nissan Altima passenger car. The driver of the Nissan Altima was identified as McAllen resident, 54-year-old Juan Carlos Perez. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the Chevrolet Silverado was identified as a Pasadena resident, 20-year-old Gianncarlo Corriabustos. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as a 40-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. Authorities say, intoxication is suspected, and criminal charges are to follow. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
