
Two injured in Chapel Hill after car accident ignites car
Last Friday night, the Chapel Hill Fire Department and Chapel Hill Police Department rushed to a vehicle fire incident that resulted in two individuals being sent to the hospital. Upon receiving a report on the vehicle fire on East Franklin Street near Carolina Avenue around 7:30 p.m., emergency crews found a car crash at the scene. The road was closed to traffic as responders aided the drivers involved. The vehicle caught fire post-collision, leading to one driver sustaining severe injuries and being transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, which did not catch fire, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by authorities, and East Franklin Street has since been reopened for traffic.
