Two individuals killed in multi-car collision in Prince George’s County identified by police.
Maryland State Police have identified Tara Gross, 50, of Camp Springs, and Dandra Byrd, 31, of Riverdale, as the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Prince George's County. The collision occurred near Route 202 and St. Joseph's Drive around 1 p.m. when their Mercedes-Benz E 300 was struck. Gross was behind the wheel with Byrd as her passenger. The incident was sparked when a Honda Accord driven by Tierra Johnson, 28, of Upper Marlboro, struck a curb divider, causing the vehicle to become airborne and initiate a chain-reaction crash involving seven other vehicles. Five individuals were transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. Authorities have indicated that speed was a contributing factor, with charges pending the conclusion of the investigation. The exact cause of the crash is currently being investigated.
