Two individuals, including a young child, died in accident closing section of I-70

Two individuals, one of whom was a young child, tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident on Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon. The crash occurred near mile marker 6 on the westbound side of I-70. An initial investigation by Pennsylvania State Police revealed that a Toyota Camry traveling towards the Pennsylvania border lost control, crossed the center median, and entered the eastbound lanes where it was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer. This impact caused the Camry to spin out, ejecting an adult and a toddler. Tragically, both passengers from the Camry suffered fatal injuries. Fortunately, the occupants of the tractor-trailer and the nearby home that was hit were evaluated and released by medical personnel. The adult passenger who passed away was in the front seat and was one of three occupants in the Camry. The driver of the Camry was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. None of the occupants in the Camry were wearing seatbelts, and the toddler was not in a child safety seat. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and the eastbound lanes of I-70 were reopened with restricted access around 4:30 p.m.
