Two individuals hurt in early morning collision in Malta
In Malta, New York, two drivers were taken to the hospital after an early morning collision between two commercial vehicles. The incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. and resulted in the closure of the road at exit 12 on I-87. According to the New York State Police, an initial investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer traveling northbound collided with another commercial vehicle involved in road line painting. The vehicle involved in the painting project was operated by a contractor and not by the Department of Transportation. Emergency responders from the Round Lake Fire Department and Malta-Stillwater EMS arrived at the scene to assist. The tractor-trailer involved in the crash was transporting liquid eggs that spilled onto all three lanes of the road. Fortunately, both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving medical care. While two of the lanes have reopened after cleanup efforts, the left lane remains closed as of 8:00 a.m., resulting in traffic delays in the area.
