Two Detroit cops hurt in collision on Gratiot and Lappin

Two Detroit police officers and the driver of another vehicle involved in a collision are all in stable condition. Recalling the incident that occurred on Saturday at Gratiot and Lappin around 6:30 p.m., Vanessa Bostic of Detroit mentioned hearing a loud crash and immediately rushing out of a nearby store with her niece to investigate. Bostic and her niece acted quickly to help one of the officers trapped in the damaged cruiser. In addition to aiding the officers, they also checked on the other officer and the driver of the black truck involved in the accident. Although the passenger in the truck declined medical assistance, everyone involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries. When asked why she reacted the way she did, Bostic expressed her duty to assist Detroit's police officers as a responsible citizen. Authorities reported that the black truck's driver ran a red light, while Bostic highlighted the prevalent issue of speeding along Gratiot. Urging drivers to slow down and be mindful of others' safety, Bostic emphasized the tragic consequences that can arise from reckless driving. As of now, it remains uncertain whether the driver of the black truck will face any charges.
