Two dead after wreck on bridge, dive team recovers body from Truman Lake

WARSAW, Mo. — Two people have died following a crash that lead to a car traveling off a bridge and into Truman Lake on Saturday, April 26. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Troop A, the crash occurred when a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle on the MO-7 Bridge, which is also known as the Mile Long Bridge. One of the vehicles traveled off of the bridge and into the lake, the MSHP reports. One driver was pronounced dead on the scene. An additional fatality was confirmed later in the afternoon. The MSHP said its dive team successfully recovered the body of the other driver from the lake. At this time, MO-7 is still reduced to one lane as crews continue recovery efforts of the vehicle. The MSHP encourages drivers to avoid the area.
