Two cows killed in collision on I-26 in Polk County.

There was a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 26 Eastbound at mile marker 66 in western North Carolina, causing a closure of the road. The incident involved two passenger vehicles, two semi trucks, and two Polk County EMS vehicles. One of the semi trucks was carrying cattle, and unfortunately, two cows were injured and had to be euthanized on scene. Animal control was also present to assist in relocating the cattle into another trailer. The closure was expected to take a few hours, and drivers were advised to stay updated through the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The interstate has been reopened following the accident.
