Turtle on the loose results in deadly aircraft accident in North Carolina, claiming 2 lives
A tragic incident at Sugar Valley Airport in Mocksville, North Carolina, resulting in two fatalities and one serious injury, was caused by a small private aircraft crashing while attempting to avoid a turtle on the runway. The pilot's split-second reaction to avoid the reptile led to the fatal crash on June 3. Initially warned by a UNICOM operator about the turtle on the runway, the pilot attempted to take off after landing but tragically lost control of the aircraft. Witnesses reported seeing the plane struggling to gain altitude before crashing just beyond the runway. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting an investigation into the accident.
