Tucson police apprehend suspect in deadly hit-and-run accident

Tucson law enforcement officials have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in a recent hit-and-run incident that resulted in the tragic death of a 25-year-old pedestrian. The individual in question, identified as 27-year-old Jazmin Montano-Granados, voluntarily met with authorities on August 27 and has since been detained. Montano-Granados is facing charges related to leaving the accident scene and is currently being held in Pima County Jail. The incident occurred on August 10 at approximately 2 a.m. near East 22nd Street and South Park Avenue when an SUV struck Izaah Josiah Ahley while he was crossing 22nd Street outside a designated crosswalk. Despite being rushed to the hospital with severe injuries, Ahley sadly succumbed to them. Authorities discovered the abandoned SUV soon after the incident. Although Ahley's decision to cross at an unmarked location played a part in the accident, the primary focus of the investigation remains on the hit-and-run aspect. Should anyone have any pertinent information about the event, they are urged to reach out to the Tucson police or anonymously contact 88-CRIME.
