Trucker on probation for causing fatal crash
Clayton Rainwater, a 24-year-old truck driver from Arkansas, has been placed on probation for four years after a suspended imposition of a sentence for his involvement in a tragic crash that resulted in three fatalities in 2022. This incident took place in West Plains, Missouri, where Rainwater's tractor-trailer collided with two vehicles, causing the deaths of Alexis Crider, 22, as well as two young passengers. Another passenger was seriously injured. Rainwater's truck, carrying a load of cattle, collided with the vehicles at an intersection. The trailer did not stop at a red light, leading to the devastating crash. Rainwater explained that the rainy conditions and the weight of the cattle made it challenging to stop quickly. An investigation found that Rainwater's vehicle had violations at the time of the crash. As part of a plea agreement, Rainwater was placed on supervised probation for four years on each charge, with the sentence suspended.
