Trucker charged with homicide in deadly May I-30 crash
An arrest has been made by the Arlington Police Department in connection with a deadly accident that occurred on I-30 back in May. 51-year-old Jose De La Luz Cadena-Marquez has been arrested on one charge of criminally negligent homicide following the incident. The crash involved an 18-wheeler driven by Cadena-Marquez and a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. Despite his initial claims that the Elantra was stopped without lights on and surrounded by traffic, video footage contradicted his statements. The footage showed that the Elantra's brake lights were functioning and there was no traffic hindering Cadena-Marquez from avoiding the collision. Mr. Cadena-Marquez was apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol on September 25, 2025, in El Paso.
