Truck overturns into river following Summers County accident
A tractor-trailer veered into a creek following an accident in Summers County, West Virginia. The incident occurred at 7:07 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the 141.5 mile marker Westbound on I-64. Various emergency response teams, such as Summers County Emergency Management, EMS, fire, and law enforcement, quickly sprang into action. Measures were taken to address the leakage of diesel fuel tanks and other vehicle fluids into a nearby watershed, with West Virginia American Water being notified and containment booms deployed downstream on Lick Creek. Fortunately, the driver of the tractor-trailer did not sustain any severe injuries requiring EMS transport. The tractor-trailer was removed by Smiths Towing. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will monitor water quality to ensure there is no threat to downstream water intakes.
