Truck driver receives sentence for deadly Springfield accident

In Springfield, Missouri, a man has been sentenced by a judge in connection with a tragic semi-truck crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in September 2023. Melvin Battle of Fayetteville, North Carolina, born in 1967, has received a five-year suspended sentence along with five years of probation from the Greene County Circuit Court. Originally facing charges of second-degree involuntary manslaughter, the charges were eventually dropped. The incident occurred when a pedestrian, Todd Tennison, was hit by a tractor-trailer on N. Kansas Expressway. Despite a witness's account and investigation identifying Battle as the driver, he denied involvement in the crash.
