Truck driver killed in Interstate 580 collision near Tracy, according to CHP
Early on Tuesday morning, a truck driver lost their life in a collision on Interstate 580, just west of Tracy, according to law enforcement officials. The California Highway Patrol reported that around 1:30 a.m., a Volvo truck collided with another truck as it approached backed-up traffic on the freeway's westbound side near International Parkway. The driver of the Volvo truck was trapped in the wreckage, resulting in both lanes being closed. Emergency responders declared the Volvo truck driver deceased at the scene. The circumstances leading to the accident are currently being investigated. Traffic was disrupted on westbound I-580 into the early hours, with all lanes blocked at Corral Hollow Road. CHP anticipates the closure to persist through the morning.
