Truck driver injured in collision with Amtrak train in Gilpin County, Colorado - State Patrol reported
A truck driver had to be transported by helicopter to a hospital following a collision with an Amtrak train in Gilpin County. The accident occurred on Monday morning at an intersection west of Pinecliffe. Despite the severity of the crash, all passengers and crew members on Amtrak Train 5, traveling from San Francisco to Chicago, were unharmed. Emergency response teams, including a HAZMAT unit from Colorado State Patrol, are on site, and motorists are advised to find alternate routes as several roads in the area are currently closed. This incident happened close to a previous derailment in 2023 in an area approximately 40 miles northwest of Denver.
