Truck driver charged in Goldsboro crash that injured 11 on US-70 east at North Oak Forest Road, officials say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A man has been charged with failure to maintain lanes after a major crash in Goldsboro, according to town officials A spokesperson said 46-year-old Alin Bosa, of Niles, Ill., was driving an 18-wheeler on U.S. Highway 70 East when he collided with six vehicles that were waiting for the light to turn green at the intersection of US-70 and North Oak Forest Road. US-70 eastbound lanes were closed at North Oak Forest Road, with the left lane reopening around 5:45 p.m. and the scene clear by 7:30 p.m., according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Officials said Sunday that 11 patients were treated for injuries. Among them, two were airlifted and remain in serious condition as of Monday morning. Officials said five refused medical transport and four were transported to a nearby hospital. Elroy Volunteer Fire Department, Goldsboro Fire Department, and Wayne County EMS responded to the wreck. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office also responded. "This crash is still being actively investigated," the spokesperson said, "and additional charges may be filed regarding this case as the investigation is completed."
