Truck driver accused in deadly Cheat Lake collision to come back to West Virginia

A truck driver who is accused of causing a fatal car accident over Cheat Lake in January will be extradited to West Virginia to face charges. Recently, a California judge served 37-year-old Singh Sukhjunder with a governor's warrant and ordered his transfer to West Virginia. Sukhjunder has been in custody in California since his arrest in March, and he had previously declined to waive extradition, but has now agreed. He is alleged to have been driving a tractor-trailer that collided with Kevin Lataille's car on Interstate 68 in Monongalia County during a snowstorm on Jan. 19, resulting in Lataille's death as his car plunged into Cheat Lake. Sukhjunder faces charges of negligent homicide in Monongalia County and is also the subject of a federal civil lawsuit filed by Lataille's family. As of Wednesday, Sukhjunder had not yet been transferred to the West Virginia Division of Corrections.
