Trooper seriously injured in collision with semi-truck
A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper was seriously hurt in a collision with a semi truck on Tuesday afternoon. The accident took place at around 11:40 a.m. on Missouri Route 210 near Stillhouse Road in Clay County. The trooper sustained serious injuries but is in stable condition according to the MSHP. Fortunately, the driver of the semi did not suffer any injuries. Images submitted by a viewer and footage from NewsChopper 9 revealed significant damage to both vehicles, which ended up in a ditch. Initial findings from the highway patrol indicate that the trooper was heading eastbound and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the trailer of the westbound semi. The exact cause of the incident is still being investigated.
