Trooper hurt, suspect killed in fast pursuit and collision
A Montana Highway Patrol trooper was injured in a recent incident following a high-speed chase near Billings, which resulted in a fatal crash and a roadside wildfire. The event unfolded when the trooper tried to pull over a speeding vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a pursuit. The suspect's vehicle collided with a semi-truck, causing the suspect's death. The trooper's patrol vehicle rolled as he tried to avoid the crash, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. Both the trooper and the semi-truck driver were hospitalized. The crash also ignited a grass fire along the highway, spanning around 150 acres, with fire crews working to contain it. Traffic in the affected area was halted for several hours, and drivers are urged to use caution.
