Training for Iowa Race After Life-Altering Car Accident
In San Diego on March 15, 2024, Tanner Courtney, a Navy Veteran, faced a life-changing accident that left him paralyzed with a partial spinal cord injury. Devastated at the loss of his bike and beloved dogs Julie and Whiskey, Courtney spent months recovering in the hospital, questioning why this had happened. To make matters worse, his dogs were missing after the crash. Thanks to the efforts of expert Babs Fry, who dedicates her life to reuniting lost K-9s with their owners, both dogs were eventually found and returned to Courtney. This heartwarming reunion motivated Courtney to persevere and even participate in the Iowa RAGBRI race, despite his physical limitations. Courtney now sees his journey as a way to inspire others and spread positivity during tough times.
