Tragic Punaluu car accident takes third victim
Authorities have reported that the unfortunate accident in Punaluu resulted in the passing of a 28-year-old female passenger. This incident, which occurred on June 17 near Kamehameha Highway and Puhuli Street, has been identified as Oahu's 39th traffic fatality of 2025, a significant increase from the previous year's total of 15 at the same time. The collision involved a vehicle carrying four occupants that overturned after veering into northbound lanes, crashing head-on with a 17-year-old driver. Tragically, the 28-year-old driver and one of her 19-year-old passengers lost their lives in the accident, with authorities noting that none of the individuals in their vehicle were wearing seatbelts. The teenage driver in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and is in good condition after being taken to a nearby hospital.
