Tragic Off-Road Vehicle Accident Takes Madison Woman's Life

Authorities are currently looking into a tragic off-road vehicle incident that took place in Hanover, Indiana, resulting in the unfortunate death of one individual. Occurring on South River Bottom Road, the accident involved an ORV operated by Charles Howell, 75, from Hanover, with three passengers. The vehicle veered off the road, causing it to roll down a hill multiple times. Charles Howell and Jacquelyn Howell, 74, from Hanover, sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital, while Donald McAlister, 55, from Madison, was taken to King's Daughters Hospital with minor injuries. Tragically, Paula McAlister, 56, from Madison, passed away at the scene, with an autopsy planned to determine the exact cause of death. None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts or helmets at the time of the accident. Investigations are ongoing, with alcohol not believed to have played a role, but a toxicology test has been requested. The Indiana Conservation Officers received assistance from various departments for this case.
