Tragic motorcycle accident on Nimitz Highway
Early on the morning of August 30th, a tragic incident occurred in the Kalihi area of Honolulu, resulting in the loss of a 49-year-old motorcyclist. According to the Honolulu Police Department's Traffic Division, the motorcyclist was traveling at a high speed on Nimitz Highway when he lost control of his vehicle, leading to a collision with a curb that caused him to be thrown from the bike. Regrettably, the motorcyclist did not survive his injuries. While speed is believed to have played a role in the accident, authorities are still determining if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors. This incident marks the 56th traffic fatality in Oahu this year, compared to 27 at the same time last year in 2024. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
