Tragic Incident: Mother of Baby Girl Fatally Attacked by Dog Urges Caution
A 6-month-old girl in Alabaster, Alabama tragically lost her life last week after being attacked by a dog, as confirmed by the police. The incident occurred at a relative's residence, where two dogs resided. Following the attack, both dogs were placed in a 10-day quarantine by animal control. The mother of the infant, Anna Southard, revealed that the dog involved was an 11-year-old American Bully with no previous history of aggression toward children. The family member who was caring for the child at the time dozed off, resulting in the fatal attack, which led to the infant being rushed to a children's hospital but unfortunately succumbing to her injuries. At this time, authorities in Alabaster are conducting an investigation, deferring any charges to the Shelby County district attorney and grand jury for further review. Southard expressed immense grief over the loss of her daughter, fondly recalling her sweet nature and how loved she was by those around her. A GoFundMe has been established to help cover the funeral expenses and other related costs. Additionally, Southard emphasized the importance of following safety precautions around infants, including keeping all dogs away from babies to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
