Tragic incident claims lives of 6, including high school student, at Colorado dairy

Six individuals, one of whom was a high school student, lost their lives in a farm accident in rural Colorado. The incident took place at Prospect Valley Dairy in the 32000 block of Weld County Road 18 near Denver, triggering a confined space rescue operation by emergency crews around 6 p.m. Upon arrival, rescuers discovered the six male victims deceased inside the confined space. The Weld County Coroner's Office is examining the possible cause of death as gas exposure in a confined space pending autopsy and toxicology results. One of the deceased was a student at Highland High School, with the school district providing counseling and support services to those affected. Three others involved in the incident were treated and released at UCHealth Greeley Hospital. Investigations are underway, with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) involved in the review.
