Tragic incident: 2 children killed, 1 in critical condition in South Florida boat collision

Two young children tragically lost their lives at the hospital after a large barge collided with a summer-camp sailboat they were aboard near Hibiscus Island off Miami Beach on Monday morning. A third child from the boat was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and was unresponsive as of Monday afternoon, as reported by the U.S. Coast Guard. Miami Fire Rescue mentioned that a fourth child was transported in stable condition. The sailboat, which was part of a sailing camp at the Miami Yacht Club, overturned around 11:15 a.m. between Monument and Hibiscus islands. The vessel, carrying five children and a camp counselor, was hit by a large barge, causing it to capsize. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the accident. Authorities have not released the identities of the children involved in the incident. There were paramedics who took three of the children to the hospital in critical condition, resulting in two fatalities and one child who remains unresponsive. The Miami Yacht Club expressed their devastation over the tragedy and is cooperating with the investigative authorities. The Coast Guard mentioned that the sailboat is still submerged under the barge, with a safety zone around the area. The company owning the barge has not been disclosed by authorities.
