Kolby, the son of renowned board shaper Duke Aipa and grandson of legendary surfer Ben Aipa, had already made a name for himself in the surf community with his authentic style, humility, and strong ties to his Hawaiian heritage. His untimely passing has deeply affected those who knew him, with tributes and memories flooding in from near and far. Plans for a paddle-out ceremony in Kolby's memory at his favorite spot, the Northside of Huntington Beach Pier, are underway, organized by the Pai family of Huntington Surf & Sport.
