Tragic death of Pittsburgh college student in Virginia crash
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of a tragic accident that took the life of a cherished senior from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Alyssa Caldarelli, 22, and her boyfriend were returning from a concert in Washington, D.C. and were involved in a fatal crash on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Arlington over the weekend. Alyssa's father expressed his profound loss, saying, "I lived with an angel, and now I don't have my angel." Alyssa's family revealed that the accident occurred as they were heading back home on Sunday, when their vehicle veered off the parkway, striking an overpass and claiming both of their lives. The United States Park Police is currently investigating the incident. Alyssa's twin sister, Ashley, shared, "The best memories of my life have been with her," illustrating the deep bond they shared as siblings. The Caldarelli family and the University of Pittsburgh community mourn the loss of Alyssa, a senior studying business management and psychology, who was set to graduate in December. Described as a kind-hearted and artistic soul, Alyssa also worked at The Bean Bar and enjoyed singing, art, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates with her father. She will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
