Tragic death of Macclesfield footballer in car crash
Macclesfield footballer Ethan McLeod has tragically passed away in a car accident on a motorway, as confirmed by the club. The 21-year-old striker was returning from an away match against Bedford Town in the National League North when the incident occurred on the M1. His white Mercedes hit the nearside barrier near junction 15 at around 10:40 pm. Despite efforts from the public and police to assist, McLeod unfortunately lost his life at the scene. McLeod had joined Macclesfield FC in July this year following a successful trial, having previously spent ten years in the Wolverhampton Wanderers academy before departing the club in September last year. The club paid tribute to him as an "extremely talented" member of the squad, emphasizing his positive impact both on and off the field.
