Tragic death of 8-year-old in East Bakersfield DUI crash: BPD
In Bakersfield, California, an 8-year-old boy tragically passed away after being struck by a pickup truck driven by a suspected intoxicated driver, as reported by the police. The driver, Andres Serna, 33, is currently in custody on suspicion of murder and other charges, and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. Serna has a history of DUI offenses in Kern County and his license has been revoked. The incident occurred when Serna lost control of the vehicle on East California Avenue, crashing into a parking lot where the boy and his father were hit near a food truck. The boy sustained severe injuries and unfortunately succumbed to them the following day. The father sustained moderate injuries, while Serna suffered minor injuries and was subsequently treated at a hospital before being taken into custody on multiple charges, including second-degree murder.
