Tragic death of 5-year-old Granbury ISD student in bus accident, officials report
The Granbury Independent School District is in mourning following the tragic death of a pre-K student on Monday morning. Superintendent Dr. Courtney Morawski confirmed the incident in a letter to parents, stating that the student, a 5-year-old boy, was fatally struck by the school bus as it was pulling away to pick up students. The child attended the Emma Roberson Early Learning Academy, a facility that houses the district's pre-K program. Morawski expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged the community to keep the family and school in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. While there were eight other children on the bus, none were harmed. The district is working closely with law enforcement to investigate the situation and provide support to the families involved. Morawski assured parents that school counselors and staff are available to offer assistance to anyone in need. She emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of students both on buses and within the district, and promised to provide more information as the incident is further looked into.
