Tragic crash in Santa Ana: 3 teens, 2 adults killed; 1 teen critical
Late on Saturday night in Santa Ana, six individuals were involved in a serious car accident, with most of the victims identified as local teenagers, as revealed by authorities. Initial reports from Officer Natalie Garcia of the Santa Ana Police Department indicate that the incident took place around 11:30 PM at West Segerstrom Avenue and South Townsend Street, where a car had collided with a tree. Upon reaching the scene, officers found five females and one male in the car during the crash. An investigation revealed that the male driver was speeding westbound on Segerstrom and missed a turn, leading to the collision. Tragically, four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, with another succumbing to injuries at a nearby hospital, and the sixth individual in critical condition. Two of the victims were ejected from the vehicle, and a nearby sedan sustained minor damage, with its occupants unharmed. The victims were reportedly family members, with their specific relationship not immediately confirmed. Officer Garcia suggested that impairment might have been a factor in the crash. A subsequent statement to KTLA 5 by Officer Garcia confirmed that four of the victims were teenagers while the other two were adults. Regrettably, three juveniles died at the scene, and one was in critical but stable condition at a hospital. The two adults were pronounced dead on site. Officer Garcia remarked on the local connection of the victims, expressing sorrow over the heartbreaking situation. A resident living near the crash site shared concerns over increasing high-speed incidents in the area, mentioning hearing racing and screeching tires in the evenings. Video footage from KTLA captured the aftermath, showing a significant law enforcement and firefighter presence at the scene. The affected stretch of Segerstrom will remain closed indefinitely. Anyone with additional details on the crash is urged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department.
