
Tragic boating accident ruins young couple's summer lake outing
Two 23-year-old victims who tragically lost their lives in a boating accident on Lake Greenwood in Laurens County on July 6 have been identified by South Carolina authorities. The young couple, Thomas Chandler Davis and Abby Katherine Davis, were both students at Clemson University. According to reports, the incident involved two boats colliding, with the Alumacraft boat carrying five people struck from behind by a Yamaha boat carrying two individuals. Two of those on the Alumacraft boat unfortunately passed away as a result of the crash, while two others were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The operator of the Yamaha boat has been arrested and charged with two felony counts of boating under the influence. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources expressed their condolences to the victims' families and stated that the incident is still being investigated. Abby was described as adventurous and music-loving, while Thomas was noted for his passion for fitness and outdoor activities. Both were born in Greenwood, South Carolina, where they were beloved by their friends and family.
