
Tragic boat accident on Lake Tahoe: 6 fatalities, 2 individuals still unaccounted for
A tragic incident occurred on Lake Tahoe Saturday when a boat capsized in severe weather conditions, resulting in several fatalities and multiple individuals missing or injured. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the weather at the time was characterized by 30 knot winds and 6-8 foot swells, equivalent to about 35 mph. The group was traveling in a 27-foot gold Chris-Craft vessel when it overturned due to a large swell. Initial responders were alerted to the incident at D.L. Bliss State Park where 10 people were found in the water. Tragically, six individuals lost their lives, two were hospitalized, and the search for two missing persons is ongoing. Rescue teams, including divers, worked tirelessly on Saturday and resumed their search efforts on Sunday morning.
