Tragic ATV accident claims life of middle school student in Decatur
A tragic accident occurred in Decatur resulting in the death of a 13-year-old middle school student named Robert "Treb" McKinnon in an ATV crash on November 29th. The incident happened on County Road 3250 when the ATV overturned while four juveniles, including McKinnon, were riding together. The driver stated that a sharp turn caused the ATV to flip over, leading to McKinnon's death. Two other juveniles sustained injuries and received medical treatment, while another was released at the scene. Decatur ISD expressed deep sadness over the loss of McKinnon and offered support to his family and the school community. Counselors were available at the school to provide assistance to students, families, and staff. The funeral for Treb McKinnon will be held on December 5th at First Baptist Decatur, with visitation scheduled for December 4th at the church.
