
Tragic accident on Mother's Day takes lives of mother and toddler
A tragic accident occurred along I-70 in Claysville, Washington County, resulting in the loss of a mother and her toddler, as well as injuries to several others. The incident involved a tractor-trailer crashing into a home after colliding with a Toyota Camry. Pennsylvania State Trooper Rocco Gagliardi provided details during a news conference, explaining that the Camry lost control while traveling westbound towards the Pennsylvania-West Virginia state line. The vehicle crossed the center median, traveled downhill at a high speed, and collided with the eastbound tractor-trailer. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to veer off the road and into the home, causing structural damage. Sadly, the female passenger and the toddler from the Camry were fatally injured. The driver of the Camry suffered minor injuries. The tractor-trailer driver and the home occupants were evaluated and released. The incident led to road closures as authorities conducted investigations and cleanup operations. The community was deeply affected by this tragic occurrence, especially on Mother's Day. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
